On bridge work very little has been done except

on Bridge 48 which has one pier and one abutment about & feet

above footing level.

15.

Bridge No.49 has one abutment down on to very hard

clay or semi decomposed granite like Kaolin. A bore is being

with difficulty put down 9 feet into this to make sure that

it was not a boulder. The bore hole several feet outside un

the foundation: shewed the same material so I have decided to

found on this if I cannot send the bore down further.
